Lead IT Administrator



We are looking for a Lead Information Technology Administrator to join the team in our Irvine, CA office. This position is responsible for integration and implementation of the infrastructure that will support the customer's enterprise-level systems. The Lead Information Technology Administrator is responsible for effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This individual participates in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.
This individual is accountable for the: Linux and Windows systems and all patching and maintenance around the systems. At times you will be asked to assist help desk with some of the tasks and you should be flexible to do so. You will be helping with the roll out of cutting-edge technology that will monitor and replace current systems. You should be able to take tasks and run with them on your own with little supervision.
Responsibilities: SA Engineering and Provisioning:
- Ability to design and deploy systems using terraform
- Competent in network design and security best practice with Cloud Technologies
- PCI system hardening and infrastructure design
- Project projections and planning for future growth
- Documentation and Policy and Procedure writing for new implementations
- Engineering of SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
- Contribute to and maintain system standards
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale
Operations and Support:
- Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups
- Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary
- Perform regular file archival and purge as necessary
- Create, change, and delete user accounts per request
- Provide Tier III/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshoot issues
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies
- Plan the acquisition and installation of hardware, system software and maintenance agreements necessary for continued IT operations
- Coordinate and collaborate with operations staff in resolving tickets within given SLA timeframe
Maintenance:
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary
- Upgrade and configure system software that supports WM infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications per project or operational needs
- Maintain operational, configuration, or other procedures
- Perform periodic performance reporting to support capacity planning
- Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required
- Establish and maintain operation protocols aligned with business and departmental needs
- Create and update documentation for critical and necessary operational tasks
Qualifications:
Minimum Required Skills/Experience:
- 7 years of Linux administration managing servers in an enterprise environment
- 5 years of Windows administration in an enterprise environment
- 5 years of Storage Administration of leading storage platforms to include NetApp or EMC, or other leading platforms
- 5 years of experience in data protection (back up, restore, replication, DR - disaster recovery)
- Must possess 5 years’ experience in Technical Leadership
- Must have advanced level knowledge of the concepts, practices, and procedures of the field of specialization
- Minimum 10 full-time years of experience
- Bachelors preferred
Required Skills:
- Must be familiar with source and artifact control and configuration management
- Relevant knowledge of current and emerging technologies
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, executive leadership, senior management, users, vendors and subcontractor personnel
- Ability to consistently meet and exceed expectations and incorporate customer service into all aspects of work
- Proficient in developing infrastructure-as-a-code solutions for continuous deployment
- Experienced in supporting project teams in all phases of the development lifecycle
- Experience in large scale migrations of projects, data, and persons to and from a commodity compute systems
- Proficient in determining the appropriate strategy for recoverability and continuity of business operations
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced vendor certifications preferred
- 3 years of hyper converged infrastructure administration using NSX and VSAN
Preferred Tools:
- Terraform, Ansible, Automation, AWS, Azure, O365
- 3 years’ experience in Software Defined Datacenter (SDDC)
- 2 years of Network Administration
